Versatile Tank Tops to Compliment Your Wardrobe

Hi. My name is Monica and I have an addiction — of the tank top sort. #thefirststepistoadmit

Ok. Now that I got that out of the way, let me explain. Tank tops are a great addition to your wardrobe, because they are versatile and can give you a pop of color. I know this idea is simple, but hey, sometimes simple works.

I wear them for work outs. They are great to wear over a sports bra for a run or to the gym for weight lifting.  I wear a tank under an athleisure jacket or loose long sleeve shirt for colder days. They are very affordable, especially if you catch them on sale. #score!!

I wear them during the summer, because the dog days of summer are brutal in Texas.   A tank top and shorts become my summer uniform. Also, a tank top under a lace top and jeans has you date night ready in a jif.  I wear this leopard print tank under my denim vest with black slacks or jeans for a casual style.

A tank top under a jacket or cardigan for work is a great way to layer, and still look professional. This allows you to shed that jacket or cardigan once you leave the office while you wait for the car to cool down in the hot summer afternoon.  Tanks tops are so simple, yet can be worn to the office, parties, dinners out, the beach — just about anywhere.

My tanks range in many colors. But, #anotherconfession I have at least six in black, and eight in white. (I know, I might need help.) #intervention The basic black and white are perfect for layering, and match so many things. Also, I wear the black and white tanks as a layer under my sweaters in colder weather. They are thin, fitted, and made of cotton.  A tank worn under your sweaters works well for added warmth without added bulk.  Layering two tanks gives a professional and more textured look under your jacket.  And there are other, loose fitting tank tops, or some that are bedazzled if you want to dress a little more sophisticated.

I dress up a tank top with a scarf or jacket, or dress them down with jeans or shorts. I buy them in patterns and stripes, as well as solids. And with spring just around the corner, I will soon be adding to my tank top collection. #sorrynotsorry

I feed my tank top addiction, shopping at Target, Gap, Kohls, and Macy’s — and anywhere else I can find a cute tank. One last confession – I sometimes shop for tanks in Target’s young girls clothing section. The extra-large fits like an adult small, but isn’t as low-cut as an the adult size. These tank tops are super for layering under another tank with a lower neck-line.

I have also found a great way to store and hang my tank tops.  I found these hooks (Cascading Mini Hooks) at Target.

They fit right over your hanger, helping to store your tops easier and more efficiently.

I hope I have convinced you how great tank tops are. If you already share this addiction, give me a shout. I would love to see how you wear them. And perhaps I’ll see you at the next meeting #tanktopsanonymous 🙂
