Essential Summer Beauty Buys

With summer in full swing, I find myself reaching for those certain few essential beauty items again and again.  Today I am sharing a few of those all important beauty buys I am loving right now.

This CC cream is my go-to for summer.  It is creamy, and goes on smoothly.  It does not feel heavy or greasy, provides even coverage, and stays all day.  I love that it has ingredients that are good for your skin, provides good coverage as a foundation, not to mention that it has spf50 sunscreen as well.  It’s infused with an advanced anti-aging serum made of hydrolyzed collagen, peptides, niacin, hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and vitamins A, B, C and E that work in harmony to diffuse the look of wrinkles.  It is a product that could be used year round , but I love to use it especially in the summer because of the lightweight feel – and of course, the high spf number too.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Colleen Rothschild Beauty is a skincare line that I have began using in recent months.  I especially love the Beauty Water from this skincare line.  It is an alcohol free toning mist that delivers immediate and  long-term hydration.  And in the dog days of summer in Texas — keeping hydrated can be challenging.  What is great about this product is that it cools and tones the skin, but will also set and even refresh your makeup.  It contains coconut water, hyaluronic acid and watermelon extract to keep your cells plumped with moisture.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Summer nail polish trends have been mostly light and bright colors this season.  And making sure your toes are sandal-ready each day is essential.  Many neutral colors are timeless, and there is one that is selling out like hotcakes.  According to a recent article from Glamour magazine, Sally Hansen’s miracle gel nail polish in the color ‘Terra Coppa’ is a top seller.

It’s a long-lasting, universally flattering rose gold polish. In fact, it’s so popular, Sally Hansen says one bottle of this drugstore beauty is sold every two minutes. To put that in perspective: If you laid out all the Terra Coppa bottles sold in a year, it would cover 183 football fields.  If thousands of folks swear by it, you know you’re in good hands.  I searched for it at various stores for two weeks.  I bought the only bottle to be found at Ulta, after having checked that same Ulta store three times.  (I have linked it for you here at Walmart.com) What is unique about this polish is it looks great on any skin tone.  Also, when I applied the polish, it looked glittery — which I wasn’t so sure about.  However, once dried, it had more of a metallic look.  I still love my bright colored nail polish, but this rose gold polish was a nice change, and I can’t wait to wear it in the fall.  This is the first time trying gel polish that doesn’t require a UV light.  I will update in a week or so to let you know how well the polish stays on, to keep you posted on wear and durability.  #staytuned

Sunless tanning lotion has become part of my beauty routine and is definitely a summer essential.  I rarely have the time to lounge by the pool anymore.  #aintnobodygottimeforthat   However, I still want a tan.  I have tried too many sunless tanning lotions to count them.  But I recently tried Maui Babe Sunless Tanner and it has become my favorite.  With just one application, my skin looked like I had lounged by the pool all weekend.  Because it goes on so dark, I mix it with a little lotion before applying.  You’ll want to use a mitt to apply the lotion, so you don’t get stained hands.  Like any sunless tanner, it will rub off on your clothes a little, so keep that in mind when wearing lights or whites.  This sunless tanner is so effective you can skip days.  Just one application tans your skin two to three shades darker.

The last summer essential is a face tanner.  You can’t have a great tan with out also having a tanned face to match.  Which is why I love this next product.  It’s Clinique self sun face tinted lotion.  I mix a little with my moisturizer, so it blends in well and doesn’t go on too dark.  I use this instead of bronzer, because I sometimes forget to put bronzer on my face.  With this Clinique tanner, you only have to use it a few days each week to achieve the shade you want for your face.  Of course, if you want to go darker, apply more often.
