Little Black Dress–Casual Style

Casual Black summer dress

Hello and Happy Friday!  Thankfully we have gotten a break from the heat with a little rain in August.  #thankyousweetbabyJesus  However, it was short lived, as this August heat is still upon us.  I don’t know about you, but this is the time of year I start thinking about fall and cooler temperatures.  I love summer, and try to hold on to it as long as I can, but with all the talk of the upcoming football season and school about to start, it’s hard not to think about fall.  While our minds may be gearing up for fall festivities, we still must dress for the current 105 degree heat index.  #holysmokes!

If you’ve been following me on the blog, you have probably figured out I am loving dresses for summer.  I hope I have inspired you to wear them, if you weren’t already.  Today I am talking about the casual black dress.  I’ll call it the (LBD) little black dress-of the casual kind.  Not to be confused with the sexy, flirty, date-night LBD.  This dress is the cute, easy-like-Sunday-morning LBD.  It’s comfortable, not too tight, but not too flowy.  It fits just right and is perfect for many occasions.

This dress is my casual, wear around town to run errands dress, but would also be great to wear for a day of travel.  It’s made of mostly cotton, with a little spandex, so it stretches.  The cotton lets your skin breath, the fabric is thick enough for good coverage, and the dress holds its shape well through out the day.

Dress:  Loft | Sandals:  Target | Necklace & Earrings: Macys | Hat: Target

Bracelets:  Kohls | Purse:  Dillards

The black dress is like a clean slate that you get to dress up in whatever your style happens to be.  I went with neutral accessories for this look.  But it could be worn with bolder accessories as well.  This dress will easily transition into fall with booties, and a cardigan, or leggings and a scarf.  Perhaps that will be a future post. . . . . . #tobedetermined! 🙂

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend.  Thanks for stopping by.
