A Fall Beach Trip with the Girls

Fall Beach Trip to Destin

Hellooo Friends and Hellooo October.  We made it to Friday and almost to the start of the weekend.  It’s been a busy week with the tragedy in Las Vegas that has us all frazzled.  I continue to pray for the victim’s families, as I am sure you are doing as well.  Today I am sharing a Fall Beach trip to Destin, Florida with my girl gang.  The tragedy in Vegas makes this post even more important, as it reminds us not to take life, family or friends for granted.  I am blessed to continue a friendship with three ladies who I have called friends since we were twelve.  #notthatlongago  #okmaybeaminuteortwo

Destin is a happening little beach town known by many who enjoy beach vacations in the summer months.  In the Fall, there are still many things to do, such as Oktoberfest and the Seafood Festival, as well as the normal fishing, swimming and golf.   We decided to take a girl’s trip where the summer lingers a little longer, but when there is less hustle and bustle.

Septembers in Destin, Florida are filled with warm, sunny days and relaxing nights.  #justwhatthedoctorordered  We hung out at the beach every day, except one rainy day.  This rainy day called for shopping and staying in that evening for dinner and wine and girl talk.  The weekend was like one big slumber party.  Girls Gone Wild Mild

We stayed in a quaint little house about a block from the beach.  It’s called Ginny’s Cottage.  It had all the comforts of home, with a full kitchen, a washer and dryer, and a covered, screened porch to sit out front and drink your coffee in the mornings.  If you’re planning a trip to Destin, Florida, you can inquire about this vacation rental by calling 850-837-6442.  Ask to speak to Molly or Kathy.

White Kimono:  SheIn.com

This kimono was light-weight, and worked well at the beach, and as a light jacket for running errands and shopping.  It’s on sale for less than $20.  I also like this kimono, and this one for summer or fall.  The colorful earrings, are from Baublebar.  They have the cutest earrings ya’ll.  These were a summer clearance item–because I am all about a bargain!  But I have linked similar earrings below.

It’s been said you can never have too many friends.  And childhood friends are on a whole different level.  We have remained a constant in each other’s lives and stood the test of time.   There is an easy acceptance with childhood friends.  But it becomes an exclusive club as you age, to have and maintain those childhood friends.

We caught a rainbow one day at the beach and a sunset on another day.

These are the girls I have shared more laughs with than I can count.  They are the reason for most of my laugh-lines.  #notmadaboutit

We made it thru our awkward teenage years –the big hair, the too much makeup phase, the braces, the heartbreaks – and still managed to remain friends.  We took each other for granted at times.  But something happened as we have grown older.  We realized these are not relationships everyone has.  We are lucky to have each other and we know it.

I am convinced God created friends to make life better.  We all need those select few with which we can show our struggle and share our joy.  I hope you have a gang you can count on.  Lean on.  Trust in.  Because everyone needs their ‘tribe’.

Thanks for stopping by.  xoxo — Monica 😉

Where we ate:

LuLus

They have a variety of seafood, gumbo and a waterfront ambience.  You can shop, eat, drink or just relax on the patio.

AJ’s Seafood and Oyster Bar

You can overlook the Destin Harbor while eating fresh oysters or other seafood at AJ’s.  They will even cook up your fresh catch for you in their restaurant.  You can do a little shopping here, and listen to live music.

790 on the Gulf

You can eat lunch or dinner in this upscale restaurant while enjoying a scenic ocean view.  The patio is nice for catching that beach sunset.

The Donut Hole Bakery and Cafe

These are not your ordinary donuts.  And if you don’t get there early, you won’t get one.  We liked this place so much, we ate there twice.  Once for dessert/donuts and once for lunch.

Longhorn Steakhouse

Because sometimes Texas girl’s just want a steak!  But they have chicken and seafood too.  The fire-grilled corn is awesome.  As is the potato soup, and the dessert.  Yes.  We ate all of it!  #wewereonvacation!
