Skin Care Review — Rodan and Fields

Rodan and Fields Redefine Skin Care Line

Product Review: Redefine and Lashboost by Rodan and Fields.

When I was asked to review Rodan and Fields products on my blog, the first thing I did was read the ingredients listed for each product in the Redefine line. I am no expert in skincare—but maybe I can call myself an expert in trying skin care products. And an expert on what works best for my aging skin. I have done a bit of research on skin care, and before I buy or use any product on my face, I always read the fine print. Also, I wanted to be honest about my review, and therefore wanted to ensure the products had quality ingredients.  Once I read the ingredients in the Redefine line from Rodan and Fields, I was satisfied with the quality of the products.  I saw many quality ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid, squalane, peptides, etc. I also did not see any of the ingredients known to clog pores, such as mineral oil, and petrolatum.  (click the link to read more about how those ingredients clog pores)

Yay! Let’s proceed.

Rodan and Fields Skin Care Review

Rodan and Fields Skin Care Redefine

This review comes with a warning.  The lighting is bad, the hair is a mess and I have on no makeup, except a little eyeliner and mascara.  It ain’t pretty.  But it’s real.  #justkeepinitreal  #dontbeskeered

Rodan and Fields REDEFINE
REDEFINE is an anti-aging skin care line that contains a Daily Cleansing Mask, Pore Minimizing Toner, Triple Defense Broad Spectrum Treatment and Overnight Restoration Cream. These products all work together to help with loss of firmness, elasticity, fine lines and the appearance of pores. REDEFINE contains high concentrations of peptides, antioxidants and other anti-aging ingredients to help fight the signs of aging.

This beauty regimen begins with a kaolin clay scrub/mask.  You apply it, rubbing it into your face, then allow it to dry for two minutes.  It cleanses the skin without drying.  Rinse thoroughly, then apply the pore minimizing toner.  Allow the toner to dry, then apply the night-time restoration cream at night, and for day-time, apply the sunscreen.

I have always believed in a good daily skin care regimen. I started a habit of washing my face every morning and night in my teens, and it has stuck with me. Through the years, I have become more and more interested in skin care and anti-aging. I found that as with most anything, knowledge is power.  Therefore, I read a lot about trending skin care products and what has been proven to work. Unfortunately, we can spend too much money on skin care, only to find out what we are buying isn’t very effective. By knowing about quality ingredients, you can be smarter with your money and skin care routine.

The results:
I feel that I am blessed with pretty good skin. It isn’t perfect by any means, and I am clearly aging #darnit!! After using the Redefine products for one month, I saw improvement in my skin’s appearance.  My pores appeared smaller, my skin looked clear, and my laugh lines seemed to lesson a bit.  But what I noticed the most difference in, is how my skin felt. I can tell the texture of my skin is smoother, softer, and more luminous.  I felt the difference very quickly after I began using this product line.  #instantgratification

Favorite product:
The lotion with sunscreen is very hydrating, and offers great protection from the sun. I use it every morning, after cleansing and toning, applying my makeup after.  It is best to have an additional layer of sunscreen, even if your makeup has sunscreen in it. Especially in the summer months, when I am outdoors more, I look for a moisturizer with spf 30 to wear under my makeup.

Would I recommend?
Yes. I would recommend this product. It is effective, allowing the skin to look more radiant, firm and smooth. I sometimes suffer from small whiteheads on the cheek areas of my face — even though I wash my face religiously morning and night. While using Rodan and Fields REDEFINE, the whiteheads completely vanished. If I’m being honest, the process takes a little longer using REDEFINE than I was accustomed to.  Applying the mask and allowing it to dry takes a little more time (only 2 minutes, but still longer than my usual routine). This wasn’t a deal breaker, but did require some adjustment to my routine each morning and night. Overall, my face felt much cleaner after using this product and the extra time was worth it.  #totally

LASHBOOST
I have used another lash growth serum, so I really wanted to try Lashboost, to see how it compared. First, let me say – this stuff works. My lashes are getting quite long, which I love, love, love.  Lashboost is also a top seller, and sometimes difficult to find because of the high sales volume.  Now that I have used it for approximately two months, I can honestly say, “Believe the hype!”  #itstherealdeal

Lashes after using Lashboost about two months
Note:  Both pictures above are with two coats of mascara.  My lashes weren’t bad — but weren’t great before using.  The second photo clearly demonstrates thicker, fuller and longer lashes.

If you want longer, thicker lashes, but don’t want the commitment of lash extensions, give Lashboost a try. #treatyoself  While it is a bit of an investment at $150, it lasts for months. It won’t be instant. It took about a month for me to start to notice a difference in my lashes. I have been using it approximately two months, and I still have plenty of serum. (I have read other reviews that claim it lasts about 5 months) So, when you do the math, it’s about $30/month. My lashes are still growing, and I am very pleased with Lashboost. I would/will order again.
